Who they were
Caterina Cittadini was born in Bergamo on 28 September 1801. In 1808, her mother dead and her father gone, she and her sister Giuditta were taken into the orphanage of the Conventino in Bergamo.
A humble and wise teacher, she devoted herself to educating poor girls and teaching Christian doctrine, and founded the Ursuline Sisters of Somasca. Her whole life was marked by great trials.
