Who they were
Ordained in 1899 and made apostolic administrator of Fiume in 1920, he was appointed the first apostolic delegate to China in 1922, convened the first Chinese plenary council at Shanghai in 1924, prepared the consecration of the first six Chinese bishops in 1926 and founded the Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord; he later served as secretary of Propaganda Fide and was made a cardinal.
