Who they were
In the stretch of sea off Rochefort on the French coast, Blessed Charles-Antoine-Nicolas Ancel, priest of the Society of Jesus and Mary and martyr, who, during the French Revolution, confined as a priest on a galley in inhuman conditions, completed his martyrdom consumed by a deadly contagion.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 29 July as a priest martyr who died of contagion on a prison galley off Rochefort during the French Revolution.
