Charles of Sezze
Italian Franciscan friar and saint (1613-1670)

Who they were
Giancarlo Marchionne was born at Sezze on 19 October 1613 to peasant parents and worked as a shepherd and farmhand from childhood, urging his companions to imitate Christ and the saints. At seventeen he vowed chastity in honour of the Virgin.
He then entered the Friars Minor as Brother Charles and served as cook, porter and questor, devoting himself to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
