Charles Steeb

Who they were
Carl Steeb was born at Tübingen on 18 December 1773, eldest son of a distinguished Protestant family. Sent to Verona to complete his business training, he became a Catholic against his family's wishes.
Ordained priest, he supported himself by teaching and caring for the sick, and in 1840, in two small rooms, founded the Sisters of Mercy, devoted to every suffering and need, with the Veronese Luisa Poloni, Mother Vincenza, whose confessor he was.

Why that counted as sanctity
A convert who embraced the Catholic faith against his family's wishes and spent his priesthood on the afflicted.
