Chiara Bosatta

Who they were
Dina Bosatta was born at Pianello Lario, near Como, on 27 May 1858. After working in the silk mills she entered the Canossian Sisters but returned home, and joined the Pious Union of the Daughters of Mary, taking the name Chiara.
When Blessed Luigi Guanella turned the Pious Union into a congregation, the Daughters of St Mary of Providence, she became one of its founders. In 1886 she went to Como to care for poor old women and young workers; falling ill with tuberculosis, she was taken home, where she died in 1887.
