Who they were
At Vienne in Burgundy, in present-day France, Saint Clarus of Vienne, abbot of the monastery of Saint Marcellus, who left his monks an example of perfect religious life.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 1 January as abbot of Saint Marcellus at Vienne, an example of perfect religious life to his monks.
