Who they were
Claude-Colbert Lebeau was a layman born at Paizay-le-Sec on 23 October 1922 and baptised there on 14 December; after his studies he became a bank clerk at Châtellerault and joined the Young Christian Workers. Recruited for the compulsory labour service on 8 March 1943 and moved to the neighbourhood of Halle, he was made head of Catholic Action there in July, was arrested by the Gestapo on 13 September 1944 and died at Zöschen on 3 January 1945, aged 22. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
