Clement of Ohrid

Who they were

At Ohrid in Illyricum, in present-day Macedonia, Saint Clement, bishop of Drama, who, distinguished for his learning and knowledge of the sacred writings, brought the light of faith to the Bulgarian people. Together with him are commemorated the holy bishops Gorazd, Naum, Sava and Angelar, who continued in Bulgaria the work of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 27 July as the bishop who brought the faith to the Bulgarian people.
