Conrad of Offida

Who they were
Conrad, born at Offida about 1241, joined the Franciscans at fourteen. An inner voice called him from his studies to humbler work, and for many years he was cook and questor; later he was ordained and his preaching moved the hardest hearts.
He modelled his life on St Francis, zealous for poverty, always barefoot and in the same habit. Brother Leo, St Francis's companion, entrusted his writings to him. He died at Bastia on 12 December 1306.
The miracles
Pope Pius VII ratified the honour paid to him as Blessed in 1817.
