Who they were
In Brittany, Saint Conwoïon, abbot, who founded at Redon the monastery of the Holy Saviour, where, under his discipline and following the rule of Saint Benedict, the monks flourished, distinguished for piety; after the monastery was destroyed by the Normans, he built a new monastery at Saint-Maixent-de-Plélan, where he died in his eighties.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 5 January as the founding abbot of Redon in Brittany.
