Crescencio Severo Ortiz Blanco

Who they were

Crescencio Severo Ortiz Blanco was born at Pamplona on 10 March 1881, professed his religious vows on 24 September 1900 and was ordained priest on 23 December 1905. He preached parish missions and taught philosophy, living in the communities of Astorga, Cuenca, Valencia and Barcelona; he had barely arrived in Madrid when he was seized and killed on 20 July 1936, and Pope Francis beatified him on 22 October 2022.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

He was taken and put to death on 20 July 1936, only days after reaching Madrid.
