Cyril of Constantinople

Who they were

Cyril was a prior of Mount Carmel, reputed to be a prophet, who died about 1235. Little more is known of him.

Later Carmelites attributed to him a prophecy that was not his, and he was for a time confused in the Breviary with St Cyril of Alexandria.

The miracles

The Carmelites came to honour him as a saint, and his feast was introduced in 1399; the Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe a formal cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

An early prior of Mount Carmel remembered by his order.
