Who they were
At Carthage, in present-day Tunisia, Saint Deogratias, bishop, who ransomed a great many prisoners carried off from Rome by the Vandals, gathering them in two large basilicas furnished with beds and mats.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 5 January as a bishop of Carthage who ransomed prisoners taken from Rome by the Vandals.
