Who they were
Desiderius (Didier), of a noble Frankish family of Aquitaine, grew up in a devout home and was educated at the court of Chlotar II, where he became royal treasurer and confidant of King Dagobert.
He succeeded his brother as Bishop of Cahors and cared for the city, its churches and monasteries. He died at his villa near Albi on 15 November 655 and was buried at Cahors, where miracles were recorded at his tomb.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A royal treasurer who became a devoted bishop.
