Who they were
In the city of Sendai in Japan, Blessed Diogo de Carvalho, priest of the Society of Jesus and martyr, who, after insults, prison and exhausting journeys made in the depths of winter, finally subjected to the torture of icy water, confessed Christ with fearless faith together with many companions.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 22 February as a Jesuit priest who died by the torture of icy water at Sendai, confessing Christ with many companions.
