Who they were
Sister María Dolores of Saint Eulalia Puig Bonany was born at Berga, in the diocese of Solsona, on 12 June 1857. She was a Little Sister of the Abandoned Elderly, taking perpetual vows in 1892, and served as porter at the home for the elderly at Requena, in the province of Valencia.
When the war broke out the sisters were forced to leave their home. On 7 September 1936 she and Sister Josefa of Saint John of God Ruano García were recognised as religious and arrested near Requena station; the next morning they were killed near Buñol, forgiving their killers. Pope John Paul II beatified them in Rome on 11 March 2001.
