At Bac-Ninh in Tonkin, now Viet Nam, the holy martyrs Fransisko Ha Thong Mau and Dominic Bùi Văn Úy, catechists, Thomas Nguyễn Văn Đệ, a tailor, and Augustin Nguyễn Văn Mới and Stephen Nguyễn Văn Vinh, farmers, one of them a new convert and the other still a catechumen: for refusing to desecrate the cross, they all suffered prison and torture and were finally strangled by order of the emperor Minh Mang.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 19 December as a catechist martyred at Bac-Ninh for refusing to desecrate the cross.
