Dominic of Prussia

Who they were

Dominic, born in Poland in 1382, studied at Cracow but fell into bad habits and led a vagabond life until twenty-five, when Adolf of Essen, prior of the Carthusians of St Alban near Trier, brought him to conversion.

He became a Carthusian in 1409 and lived in severe penance and fervour, receiving many spiritual favours. He was novice master at Mainz and vicar at St Alban, where he died in 1461, leaving seventeen spiritual treatises.
