Dominic Savio

Who they were

Dominic Savio was born at Riva di Chieri near Turin on 2 April 1842. Frail in body, gentle and cheerful from childhood, he learned at the school of St John Bosco that the joy of serving God and making him loved could be a powerful apostolate.

In 1856 he founded the Company of the Immaculate among the boys of the Oratory. He died shortly afterwards at Mondonio on 9 March 1857, not yet fifteen.

A boy who, as a teenager, ran swiftly along the way of Christian perfection with joy.
