Who they were

Born in Bohemia, at Cadovio, he first took the Dominican habit and then became a Cistercian monk of Casamari, making his solemn profession on 6 June 1776; he loved the choral liturgy and had a great devotion to the holy names of Jesus and Mary, and when he wept at soldiers profaning the Eucharist they killed him. Pope Francis beatified him with Simeone Maria Cardon and his five companions on 17 April 2021.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The decree on martyrdom records that he was killed for weeping at the profanation of the Eucharist.
