Who they were
Donato Rodríguez García was born at Santa Olalla de Valdivielso on 27 January 1911. Disabled from childhood, he walked with two crutches, and he held a diploma in piano.
He was killed in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, with the priest Valentín Palencia Marquina and three other young laymen of the college Don Palencia had founded; their only fault, the Dicastery says, was wanting to defend the faith and share the fate of their father, teacher and friend.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

A young man on crutches who would not abandon his priest.
