Dunstan

Who they were
Dunstan was born near Glastonbury, son of a West Saxon noble. At Glastonbury he built a tiny cell against the old church of St Mary where he studied, worked at crafts and played his harp. He became Abbot of Glastonbury and used his inherited wealth to foster the revival of monastic life.
He served several kings as counsellor, suffered exile under Eadwig, and became Bishop of Worcester and London and then Archbishop of Canterbury; with King Eadgar he renewed Church and realm. On Ascension Day 988, warned by a vision that he had three days to live, he celebrated Mass and preached three times, and died soon after.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
