Eadberht of Lindisfarne

Who they were

At Lindisfarne in Northumbria, in present-day England, Saint Eadberht, bishop, who succeeded Saint Cuthbert and shone for his knowledge of the Scriptures, his keeping of the divine commandments and above all his generosity in almsgiving.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 6 May as the bishop who succeeded Saint Cuthbert at Lindisfarne and was known for his knowledge of the Scriptures and his generosity in almsgiving.
