Eduardo Sáinz Lantarón

Who they were

Eduardo Sáinz Lantarón was born at Renedo de Valdearroyo on 14 November 1906, made solemn profession and was a priest from 1931. He taught metaphysics and moral theology when he was killed in 1936; Pope Francis beatified him on 18 June 2022.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

He was put to death in 1936 in the persecution in Spain, and the Church recognised his death as martyrdom.
