Who they were

Edvige Carboni was born at Pozzomaggiore, Sassari, on 2 May 1880 into a family of real faith with four other children. She worked as an embroiderer to keep her brothers at their studies.

A laywoman and Franciscan tertiary, a mystic of inland Sardinia, she set aside her own deep vocation to be wholly at her family's service, meditating morning and evening on the Passion.

The miracles

Her remains were moved to the church of St George the Martyr in Pozzomaggiore for her beatification. The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A laywoman who gave up her own plans to serve her family, and met Christ in his Passion.
