The miracles

Why that counted as sanctity
Born at Carcaixent in 1894 and ordained in 1923, he served in the parishes of Relleu and Alzira, became a much sought-after confessor and spiritual director (some 140 of those he directed were ordained priests), promoted the canonisation of St John of Ribera in 1960, and founded the retreat house of San Juan de Ribera at La Barraca d Aigues Vives, where he died on 7 January 1972. The archdiocese of Valencia opened his cause in 1995; the archdiocesan weekly Paraula calls him Servant of God and reported the opening of a tribunal on an alleged miracle in July 2019.
