Eleuterio Mancho López

Who they were
Brother Eleuterio Román (Eleuterio Mancho López) was born at Fuentes de Valdepero, in the province of Palencia, on 20 February 1898, and made his perpetual profession as a Brother of the Christian Schools in 1923. He taught in Madrid, Griñón and Puente de Vallecas, and was known for his prayer and his love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. He was arrested and died a martyr on 3 August 1936 at the Pradera de San Isidro in Madrid.
Pope Benedict XVI declared him a martyr in 2011, and he was beatified at Tarragona on 13 October 2013 with his companions.

One of sixteen De La Salle Brothers killed in Madrid in the religious persecution of 1936-1937, beatified as martyrs in 2013.
