Eleuterio Prado Villarroel
Oblate religious, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Eleuterio Prado Villarroel was born on 20 February 1915 at Prioro in the province and diocese of León and made his first religious profession on 25 April 1935. Held with the whole community of Pozuelo de Alarcón on 22 July 1936 and released, he was arrested again on 15 October 1936, taken first to the Modelo prison in Madrid and then to that of St Anthony, and killed with twelve of his confreres at Paracuellos de Jarama on 28 November 1936; he was beatified with the Spanish martyrs of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on 17 December 2011 by Benedict XVI.
