Who they were
Near the town of Cortázar in Mexico, Blessed Elías del Socorro (Mateo Elías) Nieves del Castillo, priest of the Order of Friars of Saint Augustine and martyr, who, while the persecution raged, was arrested because he was secretly exercising his ministry and died by shooting in hatred of the priesthood.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 10 March as an Augustinian priest and martyr shot near Cortázar in Mexico in hatred of the priesthood.
