Padre Domenico da Cese was a Capuchin who spent his last years as custodian of the shrine of the Holy Face at Manoppello and died after being hit by a car in Turin.

Why that counted as sanctity
The Capuchin province of Abruzzo petitioned for the cause and the Congregation for the Causes of Saints granted the nihil obstat on 3 March 2015, with Chieti-Vasto as competent forum.
