Who they were
Hubert Unzeitig was born on 1 March 1911 at Greifendorf, in a German-speaking region; his father died of typhus while at war in 1916. He joined the Mariannhill Missionaries as Brother Engelmar and was ordained.
In 1940 he was made parish priest of Glöckelberg in Bohemia at the Bishop of Linz's request. Despite his evident innocence he was convicted after six weeks' detention in Linz and sent to Dachau, where he met hatred with love and ferocity with gentleness until he died in 1945.
