Enrichetta Alfieri
Italian Roman Catholic nun (1891-1951)

Who they were
Maria Angela Domenica Alfieri was born at Borgo Vercelli on 23 February 1891 and entered the Sisters of Charity of St Jeanne-Antide Thouret at Vercelli on 20 December 1911.
In 1923 she was sent to Milan's San Vittore prison and became superior of the sisters serving the prisoners, known as 'the angel of San Vittore'. She treated those who had done wrong not with judgement or contempt but as people to be accompanied towards rehabilitation, and in the war passed messages that saved lives, working with Blessed Cardinal Ildefonso Schuster.
