Who they were
Enrique López Ruiz was born on 16 May 1901 at Trevélez, in the province and archdiocese of Granada, and on 1 October 1928 became bursar of the community of the Nativity, though nothing is recorded of any priestly ordination.
He was killed on 31 August 1936 at Pozo de la Lagarta, and Pope Francis beatified him on 25 March 2017 among José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre and 114 companions, diocesan priests and lay faithful killed between 1936 and 1938.
