The Vatican record

Who they were

Enrique Ernesto Shaw was born in France on 26 February 1921; the family moved back to Argentina in 1923, and he went to the Colegio La Salle in Buenos Aires. He served in the Argentine navy, rising to junior lieutenant, then became a businessman, husband and father, running his company on the Church's social teaching. In 1952 he founded the Christian Association of Business Executives (ACDE).

He died on 27 August 1962, aged 41.

The miracles

For beatification

a five-year-old boy — Argentina — June 2015

A boy suffered a very serious head injury when he was kicked by a horse, and was healed. The Vatican's medical board found the recovery scientifically inexplicable in January 2025, and its theologians unanimously attributed it to Shaw's intercession in June 2025.

Approved 18 December 2025

The Pope has approved the miracle, so the way to beatification is open. We have not yet confirmed a date for the ceremony; until then the Church's title is Venerable.

Why that counted as sanctity

The case of a five-year-old boy was examined by the Church's doctors and theologians and approved as a miracle on 18 December 2025, opening the way to beatification.
