Esteban Gumucio Vive

Who they were

Esteban Gumucio Vives was born in Santiago, Chile, on 3 September 1914 and became a priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts (SS.CC.). He worked as an educator and priest, and was known for his gift as a poet.

As pastor of the communities of San Pedro y San Pablo and Damián de Molokai, south of Santiago, he gave a great part of his life to working among the poor. He died on 6 May 2001. The Archdiocese of Santiago held the diocesan phase of his cause in 2010-2011.
