Estefanía Saldaña Mayoral

Who they were

Estefanía Saldana Mayoral was born in the village of Rabe de las Calzadas near Burgos on 1 September 1873 and, as a Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, gave busy service both in a college and in a hospital. She was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis, among the companions of Melchora de la Adoracion Cortés Bueno.

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

She was in her sixties, after a lifetime of service in a college and a hospital, when the persecution reached her.
