Who they were
In the fortress of Binh Dinh in Cochinchina, now Viet Nam, Saint Etienne-Théodore Cuenot, bishop of the Society of Foreign Missions of Paris and martyr, who, after twenty-five years of apostolic work, during the persecution against Christians unleashed by the Emperor Tu Duc, was thrown into an elephant's cage and died worn out by his sufferings.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 14 November as a missionary bishop who died in prison at Binh Dinh under Emperor Tu Duc.
