German Catholic politician executed at Plötzensee after the July 1944 plot against Hitler
Who they were
A lawyer and Centre Party politician, he sat in the Reichstag from 1912 and was president of the Württemberg Landtag from 1928 to 1933; arrested for helping Swabian Jews and later drawn into the Goerdeler circle, he was condemned by the People's Court and executed at Plötzensee prison in Berlin.
