Eugenia Ravasco

Who they were
Eugenia Ravasco was born in Milan on 4 January 1845, the third of six children of a Genoese banker; her mother died in 1848 and her father in 1855. Moved by compassion for those who suffer, from adolescence she gave generously to the poor.
Her rule of life was 'to live abandoned in God and in the hands of Mary Immaculate'. She founded the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary for the education of girls and the care of the sick and children.

A healing obtained through Mother Eugenia's intercession; John Paul II signed the decree approving it on 5 July 2002.
Why that counted as sanctity
An orphaned banker's daughter who abandoned herself to God and gave herself to the young and the sick.
