Eugenio García Pampliega

Who they were

Eugenio García Pampliega was born at Villagonzalo Pedernales in Spain on 23 November 1902, entered the monastic school of Santa María de Viaceli at the age of thirteen, stayed on in the abbey and was ordained priest in April 1927.

He was beatified on 3 October 2015 by Pope Francis, among the Spanish Cistercian martyrs of the Strict Observance.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints names him among the Spanish Trappist martyrs beatified on 3 October 2015.
