Who they were
A professed priest of the Congregation of the Passion under the name Eugenio of St Raphael the Archangel, he was consecrated bishop of Cariati in Calabria in 1936, reopened the seminary, made careful pastoral visits and gave away so much to the poor that he was nicknamed the bishop with holes in his hands.

No miracle has been approved. The cause is at its first stage.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Passionist general curia lists him among its Servants of God and records that the diocesan inquiry closed in 1991; it opened on 20 November 1987 after the nihil obstat of 9 June that year.
