Who they were
Eustaquio García Chicote was born at Támara de Campos in Spain on 16 August 1891 and entered the monastery of San Isidoro de Dueñas; a good and very silent worker, his weak health led to his being dispensed from his vows, though he stayed in the service of the Order at the monastery of Val San José, and in 1928 he asked for and obtained readmission, beginning the novitiate again at Santa María de Viaceli and making his solemn vows in January 1934.
He was beatified on 3 October 2015 by Pope Francis, among the Spanish Cistercian martyrs of the Strict Observance.
