Eutropius of Valencia

Who they were

Eutropius was a monk of the Servitan monastery in Spain, founded by the African monk Donatus, and succeeded him as abbot. He later became a bishop.

He wrote letters on monastic life; St Isidore said every monk should read his letter on the ruin of monasteries. He died about 610.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
