Ezequiel Moreno
Spanish bishop and Catholic saint (1848-1906)

Who they were
Ezequiel Moreno was born at Alfaro, La Rioja, on 9 April 1848, third child of a poor, devout tailor. An Augustinian Recollect, he reached Manila on 10 February 1870, was ordained there on 3 June 1871 and worked as a missionary on Mindoro, as parish priest of Calapan and vicar provincial.
In 1888 he volunteered to restore his order in Colombia, arriving in Bogotá in January 1889 leading six other volunteers. As Bishop of Pasto he spent his whole life proclaiming the Gospel in the Philippines and South America.
