Who they were

The decree on martyrdom describes him as forty-three years old and married. The letter in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis recounts that when the officer could neither threaten nor coax the Greek Catholics into giving up their church, he ordered his soldiers to open fire; they knelt in the graveyard beside the church, singing, and died on 24 January 1874 for the faith and the unity of the Church. He was beatified on 6 October 1996 by John Paul II, among Vincent Lewoniuk and his twelve companions.
