Who they were
Francisco Gárate Aranguren was born at Recarte, Azpeitia, near the castle of Loyola, on 3 February 1857, and from his youth opened his heart to Christ.
A Jesuit brother, for forty-two years he kept the door of the university college at Deusto with Christian humility, known to all as 'Brother Kindness'. He was held in life to be a perfect and holy religious.
