Mexican archbishop of Guadalajara through the Cristero persecution
Who they were
Bishop of Chiapas from 1902 and then archbishop of Guadalajara, he led the church in Jalisco through the anticlerical persecution of the 1920s and 1930s, spending long periods exiled or in hiding, and died in Guadalajara on 18 February 1936.
