Franz Seraph Ehrlich (Brother Alois)
Bavarian Carmelite lay brother and carpenter, buried in the Carmelite church in Bamberg
Who they were
A trained joiner from Massing in Lower Bavaria, Ehrlich entered the Carmelites at Straubing in 1897 and was sent to build up houses of the order in Bamberg, Rome and Palestine; he was known for his quiet life of prayer and died in Bamberg in 1945, and his grave in the Carmelite church there is still a place of prayer. The Carmelites give his date of death as 21 June 1945, not the 21 September given by the Hagiography Circle.

Why that counted as sanctity
The informative process was opened at Bamberg in 1953 and a fresh diocesan inquiry in 1999; the German Carmelite province states that the beatification process is currently dormant.
