Frédéric Ozanam

Who they were
Antoine Frédéric Ozanam was born in Milan on 23 April 1813 to a French family who returned to Lyon in 1815. He studied law and then letters at the Sorbonne, where in 1840 he became professor of foreign literature; in 1841 he married Amélie Soulacroix, and they had a daughter, Marie.
A layman of great learning and piety, he defended and spread the truths of the faith, served the poor tirelessly in the Society of St Vincent de Paul, argued for a just wage for workers and families, and made his family a true domestic church.
